Sharia Law “Not Strict Enough”
While most people resist the idea of Sharia Law, some advocates insist it does not go far enough. “Let’s respect the spirit of the original documents, not just take them literally. The spirit says more is good. More Sharia then, is good.”
While Sharia Law is important to some people, to express their adherence to religious principles, others protest against it. These new “hardliners” say, “like all things humanity does, we must push the boundaries and find new ways forward. We think extra laws on top of Sharia law are the way to do that.”
While full body shrouding has been considered perhaps the most extreme case of women rights violations in terms of clothing choices, many variations involve much less covering. The hardliners have mapped out a 10 year plan toward their new goal. They showed us pictures of the future they desire, to faithfully recreate the spirit of old manuscripts deeper intent.
We gazed upon the mysterious, confusing photographs, of what appeared to be women fully zipped up in those mummy type sleeping bags, very thick materials, with much sweat dripping from their barely exposed foreheads. The women were suspended in large bird cages dangling from tall poles, similar to Mad Mardigan in the movie Willow. “This is the new style for us,” our hardliner reported, “It is like New York fashion show, you see. It is also very good for our people. It builds trust, unity.”
Our reporters understood the pressures of documenting this story, and so with few mumbles, they left the room mostly silent, one stating “What the F#$K. I’m just not sure what the U.N. is going to say about this.”
